After Millennia of Civilization, Qom Finally Gets Its Grand Museum

A memorandum of understanding has been signed for the construction of a major museum complex in the holy city of Qom, with the municipality transferring a 6,500-square-meter plot of land on Payambar-e-Azam Boulevard to the provincial Department of Cultural Heritage.

Hawzah News Agency, the memorandum of understanding for the construction of Qom's first museum complex was signed in the presence of Ali Darabi, Deputy Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts, between the Qom Municipality and the provincial Department of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts.

Under the agreement, a 6,500-square-meter parcel of land on Payambar-e-Azam Boulevard will be handed over by the Qom Municipality to the provincial Department of Cultural Heritage for the purpose of constructing a museum complex dedicated to showcasing the historical, cultural, and civilizational heritage of Qom.

The stated objective of the project is to create a specialized space for the display and presentation of Qom's historical and cultural legacy. Despite boasting a civilization spanning several millennia, the city has until now lacked a comprehensive and expansive museum complex to exhibit its historical artifacts, cultural heritage, and handicrafts.

It is worth noting that the project was placed on the agenda through the persistent efforts and commitment of Dr. Azimi, the mayor of the Qom metropolis, with the aim of drawing greater attention to the historical fabric and rich civilization of the city. Following the transfer of the land, the design and construction phases of the museum complex are set to commence.
